How to Configure Internet Explorer for Keystone

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select “Tools” Menu
  3. Select “Internet Options”
  4. Select the “General” tab
  5. Click the “Settings” button in the “Temporary Internet Files” area
  6. Enable “Every visit to the page”
  7. Click “OK”
  8. Select the “Connections” tab
  9. Click the “LAN Settings” button.
  10. If a proxy server is in use then Click the “Advanced” button in the “Proxy server” area.
  11. In the “Exceptions” area add the IP address and hostname of the keystone server enclosed in asterisks separated by semi-colons. E.g. *127.0.0.1*;*servername*
  12. Click the “OK” button to close the “Proxy Settings” window
  13. Click the “OK” button to close the “LAN Settings” window
  14. Click the “OK” button to close the “Internet Settings” window
  15. Restart Internet Explorer
  16. Connect to the URL http://servername/keystone (where servername is the hostname or IP address of your Keystone server) to access Keystone.
  17. On first access a windows may appear ask you to download a “Microsoft XML Parser update” say Yes to this otherwise Keystone will not work.

Known Problems

When trying to access the Keystone web site for the first time Internet Explorer just displays “Indigo 4 Keystone, Checking browser…”. This usually only happens with Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2.

Solution

  1. Select the “Tools/Internet Options” menu option.
  2. Select the “Security” tab from Internet Options dialog box.
  3. Click the “Custom Level…” button.
  4. Click “OK” on the Security Settings dialog box.
  5. Click “OK” on the Internet Options dialog box.
  6. Refresh the Keystone web page
